Ideas for shots

I put together photographic inspiration for the types of shoots we could include in our video. These images were found on Tumblr, which is a social media site where the majority of users are within our targeted audience age range of young adults. Catfish and the Bottlemen are very popular within Tumblr as many tumblr users are fans of their music. I felt that if i got shots like these that are popular on tumblr it would really attract my audience.
Ideas for actors:

Once again i got most of these images off of Tumblr. This suggests the actors i have explored are the kind of people my audience look up to and associate with. It is important for me to have the right actors as the music video focuses upon these characters and audience theories such as Laura Mulvey 'The Male Gaze" where the idea stemmed from that the audience look through the eyes of a heterosexual male.
Ideas for costumes:

Costumes are very important too in music videos as they make the video aesthetically pleasing and visually interesting. Due to the fact we are doing a period piece the costumes have to be very related to our specific era in order to create the most effective video. The costume decides how the audience perceive our characters and therefore connects and relates with them. Costumes that contrast with one another in a a romantic narrative suggest conflict, whereas costumes that coincide with one another suggest that they were meant for each other.

Production Team
For our music video we have agreed that the Camerawoman will be Ellie Moore, this is due to that fact that not only is she is a keen photographer but also has taken photography for both GCSE and A-levels therefore would help her with her studies. Although we will all contribute to the editing of the video Ellie will be able to specialise in unique editing techniques because of her photographical background and her creativity. Ellie will be using her camera which is nikon D3200 to film our music video therefore will enhance the quality making it appear much more professional. She is aware of the vitality of composition and understand what looks good on camera.
The director of the Music Video will be me, because i am able to organise tasks efficiently and my creative flair that i have gained from studying art textiles has given me an artistic and imaginative eye. I will also be the stylist for the music video as this will give me good practice towards the course I am aiming to pursue at university. I enjoy doing both hair and makeup and have had a lot of practice with working with makeup on our female actor so i know what will suit her best. I am currently working at a hair and beauty salon therefore i can use the beauty and hair equipment in order to make Ellie's appearance specific for the era and of a professional level. We will use a close contact of Ellie Moore's who owns a vintage shop and will therefore allow us to borrow clothes specifically for the music video.
Eleanor Ward will be our production assistant as her organisation skills will mean that our work will be produced to a higher standard and will not take exceptionally long to film. With this role eleanor is able to assist in both filming and directing. One of her roles will be transporting the crew to and from locations so that we have easy access to re-film at places if need be .

Our Concept
Our music video is for the song 'Hourglass' by Catfish and The Bottlemen. We were inspired by the lyric in the song "Craving your calls like a soldiers wife" we develeoped this idea and created our own version of a couple during the war. After researching locations and watching various music videos as a group we believed that to make our video unique from many others basing it in the 1940's would edge away from the generic love stories that most music videos feature. We wanted the narrative to give off a cinematic feel to really engage the audience and evoke emotion from them as I believe the song alone evokes a lot of emotion therefore accompanied with the music video would bring something innovative and different to the indie rock music industry. We are pushing the boundary by creating a video looking at the song from a different slant than Catfish and the Bottlemen may do themselves.
During the video the couple are going to be seen doing romantic things such as, going to fairgrounds, museums and the cinema. After the male actor proposes to the female they get forced apart as the male actor has to go away to the war. while they try to remain in contact through letters it appears that there is a strain within their relationship. Later in the video the male is reported killed in action which is seen as the woman opens the letter as she dresses for his funeral revealing flashbacks of their time together.

Costume Finalisation
This outfit will be worn for the funeral scene where our actresses is preparing for her partners funeral. The dress is balck and full length, then she will where a classic black fascinator, this will allow our audience to clearly connote the dark colours with feelings of sadness evoking emotion.
This will be the outfit for when the couple say goodbye.
I believe this outfit would work nicely as an eveing outfit.
This outfit is casual so can be filmed for the less formal scenes.
Again, this is a very casual yet girly outfit which would be perfect for more casual scenes.
